Frequently asked questions

Booking a braider

What is LocalBraid?

LocalBraid is a booking marketplace just for braids. You can compare braiders near you by style, see their real prices and work, and request a time in a few taps. We're starting in metro Atlanta.

How do I book?

Pick a style or search by city or ZIP, open a braider's profile and choose a service. Pick the size, length and any add-ons, choose a time and send your request. The braider has until the time shown to accept, or the request expires and you can book someone else.

When is my appointment confirmed?

As soon as the braider accepts your request. You'll get a notification and an email, and the booking moves to Upcoming in Bookings.

How do I pay?

During our pilot you pay the braider directly, in the way she accepts (cash, card or an app). Some braiders show a deposit on the booking; arrange it with her. Online payments are coming soon.

Is braiding hair included?

Some services offer hair for an added price, which you'll see when you choose your options. If you bring your own hair, ask the braider how many packs and which color.

Can a braider come to me?

Yes, some do. Turn on the Travels to me filter in search. A travel fee, if any, is added to the price before you book.

How do I cancel or change a booking?

Open Bookings, choose the appointment and cancel it. To move it, message your braider first, then cancel and request the new time. Please give as much notice as you can and check her cancellation rules.

Can I book for my child?

Yes. Look for braiders marked Kid-friendly. A parent or guardian must stay for the whole appointment, and you'll tell the braider your child's age and how long they can sit. Read our Kids safety rules.

How do reviews work?

Only clients with a completed booking can leave a review, so every review comes from a real appointment. Reviews show your first name and last initial.

Who sees my address?

Only the braider you book, and only for home visits. A braider's studio address is shared with you after she confirms your booking.

Badges and trust

What does “Licensed” mean?

The braider gave us her state cosmetology or hair design license and we checked it with the state licensing board. Many skilled braiders aren't licensed, so look at their work and reviews too.

What does “Certified” mean?

LocalBraid reviewed the braider's work and profile and confirmed they meet our quality standards.

How do I report a problem?

Use Report on any profile, photo, post, review or conversation, or email us at support@localbraid.com. Reports involving children are handled first.

For braiders

How do I join LocalBraid?

Sign up as a braider, set up your profile, services, prices and hours, and add photos of your work. Our team reviews every new braider and emails you when you're approved. You'll appear in search once you're approved.

Does LocalBraid take a commission?

No. We never take a cut of your bookings. LocalBraid offers a free plan and paid plans with more services, photos and features like Go Live.

Can I connect my Google or Apple calendar?

Yes. In Calendar, choose Add Google Calendar (it works with Apple and Outlook calendars too) and paste your calendar's private iCal link. Busy times block your LocalBraid openings automatically, and you can add your LocalBraid bookings to your own calendar too.

How do I get the Licensed badge?

Go to Settings → License and enter your license details. An admin checks them with the state, and the badge appears once it's verified.

What is Go Live?

On the Crowned plan you can stream a live video while you braid so clients can watch and book you. Children may never appear on a live.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

You can move to a lower plan anytime from Earnings in your dashboard. Contact us for anything else.
