How can we help?

Step-by-step answers for clients and braiders. Can't find what you need? Email us and a real person will help.

Getting started

Create an account

  1. Tap Sign up and enter your name, email and a password, or continue with Google if you see that option.
  2. Check your email and tap the link to confirm your account.
  3. Clients can start booking right away. Braiders continue to set up their profile.

Forgot your password? Email us from the address on your account and we'll help you get back in.

Booking an appointment

  1. Search by style, city or ZIP, or try Style Match to find braiders who do the look you want.
  2. Open a braider's profile to see prices, photos, reviews and open times.
  3. Choose a service, then the size, length, hair and add-ons. The price updates as you choose.
  4. Pick a time and add a note or inspiration photo if you like.
  5. Send your request. You'll see when the braider needs to reply by.

You can follow every request in Bookings. If a braider declines or doesn't reply in time, nothing is charged and you can book someone else.

Before your appointment

  • Follow your braider's prep notes (for example, washed, detangled and blow-dried hair).
  • Message her through LocalBraid with any questions, allergies or sensitivities.
  • Check the address. Studio addresses appear in your booking after it's confirmed.
  • Running late? Message your braider as early as you can.

After your appointment

  • Leave a review from Bookings to help other clients.
  • Share an Aftershot (a photo of your finished style) if your braider offers rewards for them.
  • Save the braider or follow her to see her new work and openings.

Kids appointments

A parent or guardian books and stays for the whole appointment. Kids photos may only show the hair from the back or side, and parents approve any Kids photo before a braider can post it. Children may never appear on a live. Read the Kids safety rules.

For braiders: setting up

  1. Profile: add your business name, a clear photo, a cover photo, your city and ZIP and a short bio.
  2. Services: list each style with a starting price, time, sizes, lengths and add-ons. Clients see the exact price before booking.
  3. Hours: set the days and times you work. Connect your calendar so personal appointments block your openings.
  4. Photos and videos: add your best recent work. Only your own work, and never a child's face.
  5. Submit for review. We'll email you when you're approved.

For braiders: requests and calendar

  • New requests appear in Requests and in your notifications. Accept or decline before the reply-by time, or the request expires.
  • Accepted bookings show in Calendar. Mark them completed after the appointment, or no-show if the client doesn't come.
  • Use Clients to see your regulars, keep private notes and message past clients.
  • Turn on Aftershots in Settings to reward clients who share photos of your work.

Account, privacy and safety

  • Change your details: go to your account (clients) or Settings (braiders).
  • Report something: use Report on the profile, photo, post, review or conversation.
  • Delete your account: email support@localbraid.com from the email on your account.
  • Read our Privacy policy and Terms of use.
